National High Magnetic Lab Open House

Saturday, February 26, 2011

10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Unofficial Price of Admission: Canned goods to benefit America's Second Harvest Food Bank of the Big Bend

Every February, the Magnet Lab invites the public to spend the day at its world-class research laboratory. This free open-house event features something for young and old alike: hands-on demonstrations, self-guided tours, activities from our Community Classroom Consortium (CCC) partners, food and the chance to chat with Mag Lab scientists.

Leon County's Rhonda Renee Recycles will be on hand to demonstrate vermi-composting and read stories about the fun of composting. Composting is one way to reduce waste going in the landfill. You can bid on an Earth Machine compost bin or a Systern rain barrel, donated by Leon County Recycling. Proceeds from the silent auction benefit CCC teacher grants.
